Chasing Horizons by ottoberkeley

This image of the riverside walkway leading to Tower Bridge was captured on a peaceful morning, when slow-moving clouds and a partially obscured sun combined to create a beautiful sunrise.

My aim with this image was to capture the elegance and romanticism from the lights inside Tower Bridge and along the walkway, but also the glow of golden-hour sunshine lighting up the walkway and reflecting against City Hall. I was fortunate that the cloud cover on the morning of this shoot was enough to allow some of the sunrise through, but also thick enough to add some texture to the sky. The clouds were heading southeast, which was a bonus because it added to the sense of direction I tried to create using the lamps along the riverside, the steps outside The Scoop and the tiles along the walkway.

This shoot began during blue hour so that I could capture the lights on Tower Bridge and in the lamps along the walkway, as well as inside City Hall and along the edges of the steps outside The Scoop. I then took several long-exposure shots to capture the clouds and the soft light as the sun began to rise, blending these with the blue-hour details to capture how the sky lit up as a warm hue spread along the walkway and against the glass covering City Hall.
