Cistercian austerity by marc-haegeman

Cloister of the abbey of Senanque (Vaucluse, France). With Silvacane and Le Thoronet known as “the three sisters of Provence”, these 12th-13th century abbeys are prime examples of Cistercian architecture and thinking. Unlike the clouded day when I visited Silvacane, Senanque was backing in the Provencal summer sun, creating some dramatic light effects.
