Geisel Library, UCSD by tom_coelho

The Geisel Library building is named in honor of Audrey and Theodor Seuss Geisel (better known as Dr. Seuss) for the generous contributions they have made to the library and their devotion to improving literacy. The Geisels were long-time residents of La Jolla, where UC San Diego is located.

The building is featured in the UC San Diego logo and is the most recognizable building on campus. It is located in the center of the campus with Library Walk to its south, Thurgood Marshall College to its west, and Earl Warren College to its east.

The library first opened in 1970. It was simply called the Central Library until a renovation was completed in 1993, when it was rededicated as the University Library Building. It was renamed Geisel Library in 1995

Geisel Library by TonyDeSantis

Geisel Library is on the campus of UCSD. It is named after Theodore and Audrey Geisel. Theodore Geisel is the creator of Dr. Seuss.
Last week I went on a short vacation with the family to San Diego. I got a chance to sneak out on Sunday morning and go up to UCSD to photograph. My intention was to photograph The Salk Institute and this the Geisel Library. To my misfortune the Salk Institute was closed but the Library was open for the taking.
I usually do all of my photography in black and white, but on this i decided to experiment with some color. So I am posting the color 1st and then I will post the Black and white.
Comparisons of the black and white and color as well as the Black and white and original will be posted to my Facebook page in the next few days.
