Storm over Colosseum by AaronChoiPhoto

Taken last year during my Italy trip. I arrived at the Colosseum very early in the morning trying to capture some sunrise light over the architecture before the crowds arrived. I was lucky to have some serious stormy clouds right as the sun was rising. I had to take shelter quickly and dry out my lenses right afterward.. but all worth the effort 🙂

Built by the Byzantine emperor Justinian in the 5th century as an Eastern Orthodox Basilica in what was then Constantinople and converted into a mosque when invaded by the Turks. Now converted into a world famous museum. Note the restored angels and many mosaic Christian art alongside Islamic symbols.
