Three Mills by MichaelvanderBurg

Kinderdijk is a village in the Netherlands, in the province South Holland, about 15 km east of Rotterdam. Kinderdijk is situated in a polder in the Alblasserwaard at the confluence of the Lek and Noord rivers. To drain the polder, a system of 19 windmills was built around 1740. This group of mills is the largest concentration of old windmills in the Netherlands. The windmills of Kinderdijk are one of the best-known Dutch tourist sites. They have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997

More windmills :-) by bverbrugge

This photo is taking at the UNESCO world heritage area ‘Kinderdijk’. This place is high on every tourist ‘places to visit’ list. In total 19 windmills are situated close to each other. Once in a while the windmills are lit up by big lamps and that was also the case when this photo was taken. It looks tranquil, but trust me you had to ‘fight’ for a good spot with fellow photographers. As if the royal family would pass by. 🙂 It was a lot of fun tough.

Stockholm Skanskvarn IR Close-Up by mixbsd

Close-up 720nm IR shot of Skanskvarn’s windmill sails.

This windmill is actually a restaurant and is located between Stockholm’s Mårtensdal and Gullmarsplan T-Bana stations.

The reflected infrared light off of the wooden sails makes for a nice contrast against the dark sky.
