Hohenwerfen castle stands high above the Austrian town of Werfen in the Salzach valley, approximately 40 km (25 mi) south of Salzburg. The former fortification was built between 1075 and 1078 atop a 155 m (509 ft) high rock. From here you have an excellent view at the surrounding mountains. Worth a visit I would say. That’s what I did myself, but before climbing to the top I had to take this photo, when the sun was still a bit low.
