Hundreds of lanterns and bunches of artificial flowers line the entire perimeter of the temple and the late-night lighting elongates the shadows of some pedestrians.

The colourful row of identical windows in the bottom left-hand corner are the second and third storeys of the famous colonial-era “shophouses” in Chinatown.
