Ants with the Bean by Meezer3

Open House Chicago again.
A different kind of view of the “Bean”, aka Cloud Gate, in Millennium Park, from the 71st floor of the AON building across the street. If you look closely you will see the building I was shooting from reflected in the top of the Bean.

Almost all images that I have seen in the past of the Bean are from ground level.
I usually can’t handle heights or elevators, and haven’t been past 23 floors (and that -only because- I had to go for jury duty). But the need to see the views superseded my fears and I held on for the trip up…not to be disappointed. 🙂
I had a glorious 360 degree view from that height..
Now the hard part…coming down…lol

Cloud Gate by tom-harris

Cloud Gate, my introductory image here on 500px. This image was made just before sunrise in Millennium Park. Anish Kapoor’s Cloud Gate, better known as “The Bean” reflects the Michigan Avenue skyline behind me as I look toward sunrise over Lake Michigan beyond.

It was a pleasure to have the entire park to myself before it opened that day. This sculpture is regularly surrounded by throngs of tourists and curious locals watching their reflections distort as they walk around and under the sculpture.

The Bean – Chicago, IL by justinb

Cloud Gate, also known as “The Bean” in Millennium Park, Chicago, IL.

The buildings in the background are really tall, it took a lot of tilting to get them upright. A tilt-shift lens would be really fun, I just wish it wasn’t so expensive. It also took a long time to get all the people out of this shot. It turns out this is a popular place to be just after sunset. I used 4 different brackets of shots to mask out the people, and even with 4 photos to mask from I still had to do a little bit of cloning.
