They are a row of homes built at the end of the 19th century in the Victorian style. In the 1960s the they were painted by the owners in the vibrant colors they are now, and in the 1970s they were dubbed the Painted Ladies in a book by the same name.
I have been dreaming of this moment for a long time now and last night I got the chance to fly over SF and capture it from the air. It was amazing to see the city I have lived in for the last 6 years from above. Thanks Verticalcfi for the amazing piloting skills!
I was in the bay area for a wedding (a friend’s wedding; I don’t shoot weddings so don’t ask). The next morning I had time for one quick shoot. Heading out to Marin to shoot the Golden Gate would take too long. So I needed something I knew I could get to easily, set up and shoot at sunrise. I had taken a night shot of the Painted Ladies before, but was never really happy with it so I decided to do a reshoot.
