This is my last photo I am uploading from my vacation in France. Tomorrow we will drive home to Germany.
Jardin des plantes de Montpellier is a 4,5ha historical botanical garden and arboretum. The garden was established 1653 by a letter patent of King Henri IV. It is France’s oldest botanical garden. The garden was expanded in the 19th century. It’s orangery was designed by Claude-Mathieu Delagardette (1762805) and completed in 1804.
The water reservoir tower Château d’eau du Peyrou was build 1768 by architect Henri Pitot and is still in use. The water is coming via the aquaeduct of St. Clement, which I have shown already some time ago. The building is part of the Promenade du Peyrou, a park within Montpellier.
