22squared beautifully repurposes billboards destroyed by the storm to help raise funds for victims

Areas affected by deadly Hurricane Irma are only just beginning the process of recovery, but Atlanta-based ad agency 22squared has found a creative way to make use of what was destroyed by the storm to help inspire optimism. The company, which has offices in Tampa, has been salvaging pieces of broken billboards from the storm to craft messages of hope while also raising money for those in the affected communities.

Utilizing vinyl salvaged by the storm as a base, the newly constructed billboards contain messages like: “We May Be Torn But We’re Still Together” and “Irma Left The Pieces, Let’s Put Them Back Together.” The billboards stand in a donated space in Fort Myers, one of the areas hardest hit by the storm, and they help to promote IrmaGivesBack.org, where volunteers can donate their time or money to help storm victims via Volunteer Florida.

The entire project from concept to construction was completed in just 5 days, and it was built by 22squared employees who volunteered their personal time. It felt very close to home for 22squared, as their Associate Creative Director Garen Bogosian pointed out in a statement,  “Many of us have family or friends that have been affected by Irma, so this has been a deeply personal project for all of us.”
